Step 1. Free talk and lead-in

1. Greet with some students.

Hello, boys and girls. I’m Miss Chen, I’m new here. Girl, your name, please?…

2. I think in this class, you can do these things. (Show the teaching aims: I can…)

  One star means (T&S: Come on.) Two stars mean (T&S: Good.) Three stars mean(T&S: Very good.)

Step 2. Group the letters

1. Find, say and point.

  (Show the picture.) Look at the picture, which letters here? Can you find, say and point? (Ask some S to come to the front to point) The letters are Ll, Mm and Nn.

2. Write the letters.

  Can you write them? Please write them on the paper.

  (Ask three S to write the letters on the blackboard.)

3. Show the group.

Step 5. Read and act the cartoon story

1. Do you love one another? Bobby and Sam also love their families. We know Bobby and Sam are friends. (Show the pictures of them.) But, Bobby’s mother and Sam’s father, are they friends? (Show the pictures and write the question mark between the pictures) (Show the pictures of Cartoon time) Let’s look and guess.(S can answer in Chinese)

2. Of course, they’re not friends. Because Sam’s father wants to eat them. (Put the picture of the knife and fork beside Sam’s father.)

3. Enjoy the cartoon.

4. Learn the daily expression “Good evening.” (Show the pictures of the sun and the moon, ask S to choose one for it.)

5. They are not friends, but they say “Good evening.” How to read? (Ask S to watch the expression of the cats and the mice, pay attention to the different shapes of the bubbles of sentences.) Try to read.
